Cutting Tools Solid carbide drills have the ability to retain hardness and a sharp edge at high temperature. Their excellent abrasion-resistant qualitites make them advantageous for use in drilling abrasive materials such as cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, high silicon aluminum, hard rubber, and plexiglas. Carbide drills asre run at higher speeds than standard High Speed Steel drills. They offer the advantage of extreme rigidity for greater drilling accuracy.
